Prepare Quest room data before opening Chloro so windows, surfaces, and plant placement behave correctly.
Scan your Quest environment
Chloro works mainly on Quest 3 and Quest 3S. Scanning needs to be done from headset settings by going to Settings, then Environment Setup, and completing the setup process.
If you have never used Environment Setup before, use Meta's official reference: Environment Setup help.
Check windows and surfaces
After scanning, confirm that every window in your space is included. Also scan the surfaces where you plan to set up plants.
You do need to scan shelves. Plants can be adjusted to float in the air where the shelf is, so the shelf does not need to be a perfect physical placement surface.
Verify room data in Chloro
Open Chloro and use the room data toggle to check whether your room data has registered. If you hit rescan in the app, you may need to restart Chloro before the changes go through.
Use the scan data toggle to confirm your room setup is available.

Chloro setup
Define the location and window context Chloro needs to estimate indoor light.
Why Chloro asks for setup
The tutorial in Chloro goes over setup, but the same flow is documented here. Chloro has its own setup apart from Meta's Environment Setup because the headset does not use your actual location. Instead, you define it yourself.
Set latitude and longitude
Point your hand toward the direction of the map and pinch in your general location to establish latitude and longitude.

Set window direction
Chloro needs to know what direction your windows are. Point your body in the direction of north using a compass, and press next once you are done.
Tip: standing in the middle of the room will auto-orient the windows best.
Aligning north helps Chloro understand which way your scanned windows face.
Adjust light obscurity
If trees, nearby buildings, or other objects cover the window, use the slider to change how much light is being blocked. Use 0% for a window blocked by a building, and around 50% when the window is under significant tree shade.
The obscurity slider helps Chloro estimate how much usable light reaches the room.
If you load up a save, you will not have to do these steps again.

Adding plants to your space
Use the Chloro panel to select plants, place them in mixed reality, and understand plant status tags.
Main Chloro panel
After completing setup, you are met with the main Chloro Panel. The panel has three pages navigated with the circle buttons on the left: Plant Selection, Your Plants, and Settings.
You will first see Plant Selection with tabs for Recommended, All Plants, and Grow Lights. If setup was completed correctly and your room has a window, recommendations should populate based on the amount of light entering your space.
Place a plant
Pinch a plant directly with your pointer finger and thumb, then drag it off the panel above your intended surface to drop it in place.
Use the trigger button to click buttons, then use the side grab button to grab a plant and drag it off the panel above your intended surface.
Drag a plant away from the panel and release it over the surface where you want it to sit.
Status icons
Placed plants have a tag above them with the plant species name and a status icon. The icon summarizes how well the plant fits the current spot.
Pressing on the plant tag opens the plant description, where Chloro gives further guidance on care. Press the tag again to deselect it.

Scanning real plants
Scan an existing plant with the headset camera, identify its species, and build a care schedule.
Enable headset camera access
Chloro can scan existing plants using the headset camera. Double check your app settings for headset camera access, then restart the app to apply changes.
Use Chloro's Database to see which species can be identified.
Start a scan
Pinch your pointer finger and thumb together toward each other like shown in the video, then let go by the sides of the pot of the plant you want to scan.
Press the trigger and grab button on both controllers, then let go at the side of a pot to scan it.
You should see white gradient squares appear if scanning is happening.
Tip: move other plants out of the way or get closer to the plant you want to scan so the wrong plant is not scanned.
Scan from the sides of the pot and watch for the white gradient squares.
Correct, cancel, and confirm
If the plant has not been identified correctly but the species exists in Chloro's placement page, press the toggle behind the plant on the placement page to override the species type.
Press redo if you want to cancel the scan. Identify root density and soil type by observing the soil and remembering when you last repotted it, then press the corresponding toggles to fine-tune results.
If confirm is greyed out, the plant species has not been identified. Pressing confirm shows a detailed schedule.
